The Finnish Dental Association

The Finnish Dental Association is a lobbying and expert organisation for dentists and dentistry students. It supervises the professional, economic and social interests of its members.

Nearly all dentists practising the profession in Finland are members of the Association. We have approx. 7,400 members, including approx. 1,200 student members.

Tehtävä ja toiminta

We work towards the development of oral health care and the treatment of dental and oral pathologies as part of the general health care in Finland. The promotion of population-level oral health is a key area of our activities. The Association fosters the profession’s ethical values and promotes a dialogue on ethical questions in the field. We serve as a professional community for dentists and aim to strengthen the unity of the profession.

The members are provided with expert counselling in matters related to their work. The membership offers a variety of member services and benefits, such as legal advice, insurance benefits and the Finnish Dental Journal (Hammaslääkärilehti). The members can also take part in the training and events arranged for them. More information.

Who can join

You can become a member of the Association if you have been granted the right to practise as a licensed or authorised dentist in Finland. Those who have a dentistry degree from abroad may apply for membership once they have been granted a fixed-term or permanent right to practise as a licensed or authorised dentist in Finland. If you are studying dentistry at a Finnish university, you can become a student member. It is a good idea for a student to join the Association already at an early phase of studies.
