How to join?

Any individual engaged in working life or studying within higher education is welcome to join an Akava affiliate union. The unions welcome students, employees, self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs. The jaseneksi.fi service will help you in finding a suitable union on the basis of your field of education or your degree.

If you are in working life, you can contact the shop steward or representative of Akava unions at your workplace and they will assist you in selecting a suitable union.

Tehtävä ja toiminta

To promote fair pay, employment security and development of working conditions for our members, we are engaged in collective negotiations and exert influence on social decision-making. We take action to make the work carried out by our members better known, to further enhance respect for it and to ensure that sufficient resources are allocated to that work.

Who can join

You can join the SPJL if you are employed in the Police, within the judicial administration, the Security Police, emergency response centres or the Finnish Immigration Service. You need to apply for membership in one of the SPJL member associations. Students will join the SPJL directly, not via any member association. You can become a student member if you are conducting the basic studies of police education at the Police University College (Polamk) or have started studies for the emergency response centre operator qualification.
