How to join?

Any individual engaged in working life or studying within higher education is welcome to join an Akava affiliate union. The unions welcome students, employees, self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs. The jaseneksi.fi service will help you in finding a suitable union on the basis of your field of education or your degree.

If you are in working life, you can contact the shop steward or representative of Akava unions at your workplace and they will assist you in selecting a suitable union.


The Union of Technical Professionals KTK

The Union of Technical Professionals KTK (KTK Tekniikan Asiantuntijat) is the trade union and interest organisation for technical professionals. We have approx. 7,800 members. In addition to interest supervision, we offer earnings-related unemployment security, legal protection, travel and accident insurance, legal advice in private life matters as well as other membership benefits.

KTK is the only interest organisation for technical professionals in the municipal sector. We are comprised of seven professional-ideological member associations and one collaborative organisation. The majority of our members work for municipalities, joint municipal authorities, municipal enterprises and limited companies. The professional titles of our members include, for example, engineer, construction engineer, technician, chief fire officer, planner, IT manager, health inspector, laboratory analyst, food service manager, cleaning supervisor, horticulturist, energy advisor and map planner.
Persons who produce or are responsible for technical services in a managerial, supervisory or expert position and who have a university degree or a second-level education in the technical field.

Who can join

The membership fee covers, for example, counselling on employment relationship issues, pay advice, membership in an unemployment fund, insurance benefits, legal counselling by phone in private legal matters as well as several leisure benefits at reduced prices.
