How to join?

Any individual engaged in working life or studying within higher education is welcome to join an Akava affiliate union. The unions welcome students, employees, self-employed professionals and entrepreneurs. The jaseneksi.fi service will help you in finding a suitable union on the basis of your field of education or your degree.

If you are in working life, you can contact the shop steward or representative of Akava unions at your workplace and they will assist you in selecting a suitable union.


Trade Union Ava

Trade Union Ava serves as an umbrella organisation for three government-sector unions representing those employed by the Tax Administration, the Customs and the Administration for Foreign Affairs. The purpose of Trade Union Ava is to promote and supervise the shared working life and social interests of its members working in expert organisations. The three Ava unions have a total of 4,070 members.

Who can join

Those working within the Tax Administration can become members in Verovirkailijain liitto (VeroVL). Tullivirkamiesliitto (TVML) is a trade union for those employed by the Customs, and Ulkoasiainhallinnon Virkailijayhdistys (UHVY) is for the staff members of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
